Evelyn Nwabuoku: Business as usual
Mercurial skipper Evelyn Nwabuoku has insisted it will be ‘business as
usual’ for Rivers Angels when they resume training for the 2014 Nigeria
Women Football League calendar.
Speculation are rife on the
social media that the Port Harcourt Angels will engage Nasarawa Amazons
in a Super Cup battle in February to determine the champions of the 2012/2013 season.
According to the versatile player, if it is so her troupes are ready to win a double.
“It will be make or break match. It’s not the first one we’ve faced and
I hope we’ll be able to play more of these games in the future,” the
Nigerian international told riversangels80.blogspot.com
“It’s another step in our development, against a strong Amazon side who won't want to fall the second time.
“We’ll try to dictate the game without thinking about the fact that we
already had a Cup in the bag. We’ll go for the win, just as we always do.”
Evelyn Nwabuoku then paid tribute to Rivers Angels gaffer Edwin Okon.
“Edwin Okon is an excellent Coach and Rivers Angels are in good hands. We clearly understand what he wants from us.
“There isn’t a favourite in 2014. We will approach everyone with a
level playing field and I hope the team that has shown itself to be the
best come tops.
“We’ve certainly improved since the Women's Fed
Cup Final in Lagos, but we know we’ll be up against good sides in the
coming year.
“Players like Gloria Ofoegbu and Sunday Uchechi are very dangerous and it's good we have quality in the group.”
