Chelsea midfielder to decide his playing future soon

Chelsea playmaker Kevin de Bruyne will decide his future later this month, AS have reported this morning.

The Belgian midfielder has been linked with a January loan move to Atletico Madrid, and the paper have confirmed that the Premier League club have given permission for the youngster to travel with his agent to hold talks with the Rojiblancos.

Diego Simeone’s men will face stiff competition from the Bundesliga though. Bayer Leverkusen, Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen [where he spent last season on loan] are all said to be interested.

Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs has publicly stated his interest in taking the 22-year-old to the Volkswagen Arena in January, although he is reluctant to accept a basic loan deal. “If Chelsea really let him leave, we’ll join the bidding for him. However, we’re only interested in a transfer or a loan deal with an option to buy.”

The player has already appeared in this season’s Champions League and would be unable to feature in the competition with Atlético.
