League body plans abridged league

The League Management Company is considering to split the Glo Premier League into two groups, to complete the season before the World Cup in Brazil.
The new 2014 season is expected to begin immediately after the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in February and finish in May, before the FIFA World Cup in Brazil that starts in June.

Therefore the LMC, who organize the league are considering a new league format, with the 20 teams split into two 10-team groups, with two best teams from each group participating in play-offs to determine the league winners.

“Clubs are already getting feelers that the new League season will be an abridged one so as to meet the Fifa May deadline for the World Cup preparations,” a club official informed.

However clubs may do not agree with the idea, as shorter season could mean a smaller budget from state governments.
