Sammy Ameobi who has played for both the England U-21 and the
Flying Eagles of Nigeria will grab an opportunity to play for Nigeria
after the World Cup.
According to the Chronicle, the Super Eagles who are one of Africa's
representative at the on going FIFA World Cup 'Brazil 2014' are looking
to integrate young players into the senior national football team of
Nigeria and the Newcastle player is under consideration.
Sammy Ameobi was part of the Flying Eagles squad that trained in Turkey
ahead of the 2011 African Youth Championship (AYC). The Junior brother
of Super Eagles forward, Shola Ameobi who played a part in Nigeria's
barren draw against Iran in Super Eagles first match at the FIFA World
Cup 'Brazil 2014' made his England debut for the U-21 in a match against
Iceland which they won 5-0, he also played for the Flying Eagles in a
friendly against Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
Sammy, who plays for Newcastle, had a tough time last season due to
ankle and foot injury forcing him to make just 12 appearance last
season.
Sammy will have an opportunity to play in the colours of Nigeria if he
is invited, considering that the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier
starts later this year in September.
The AFCON champions, Nigeria are in group A of the qualifiers and will
face challenges from South Africa, Sudan with either Libya or Rwanda,
Namibia or Congo Brazzaville as the best from the continent assemble in
Morocco in 2015
