As the controversy continues on if Elderson Echjiele has been replaced
by Ejike Uzoenyi or not in the Nigeria World Cup 23 man team.
Head coach of Enugu Rangers, John Obuh has exclusively told SL10 the CHAN MVP left training this morning for Brazil.
Enugu Rangers are yet to go on break despite the league going on a midseason break because of their outstanding match against El-Kanemi Warriors in Kano this weekend.
"Ejike trained with me yesterday evening but this morning he came to me and said he is travelling to Brazil and I excused him, but what I don't know is if he has taken off to Brazil or not," Obuh stated.
When SL10 sought to know from the Ex-Under 17 and 20 boss if he is aware of reports in some section of Nigeria media saying Echjiele is fit for the World Cup, he said he has heard nothing in relation to that.
"Have not heard anything about Elderson Echjiele been fit for the World Cup, infact as a team we have not been told officially about Ejike coming in to replace Echjiele."
Last week Elderson Echjiele picked up an hamstring injury in the friendly against Greece ruling him out for three weeks and out of the World cup according to reports.
In same vein Ejike Uzoenyi was reported to have been called up to replace the injured left full back but this morning a new twist came up with reports saying Echjiele is fit for the Mundial.
Some media outlets even went as far as quoting Stephen Keshi saying Echjiele will miss the first game against Iran but should be available for the second game against Bosnia.
