Heartland
captain Chinedu Efugh is happy that Chigozie Agbim
of Gombe United; Azubuike Egwuekwe of Warri Wolves, Ejike Uzoenyi of Enugu Rangers and Kunle Odunlami
of Sunshine Stars made the Super Eagles World Cup squad to Brazil.
According to Efugh, the domestic league
will benefit from the development, adding that more Nigerians will be
interested in the competition.
He said, “It’s a thing of joy to us all in the league. This is not just any tournament; it is the World Cup.
“For the home-based players to be on the list, it’s a sign of the good things to come.
“I just want them to continue to be good
ambassadors of the league. Their performance will open doors for other
home-based players.
“Their inclusion will inspire us to remain dedicated. Keshi has done well and I wish the team the best at the Mundial.”
On the possibility of representing the country, Efugh told NAN that a call-up to the Eagles could not be ruled out.
He said, “I’m positive that anything can
happen at any time. Those going to the World Cup now did not think this
could happen too. If God says it’s your time, nobody can stop you.
