The foot injury suffered by Rizespor defender Godfrey Oboabona against Iran is not as bad as first thought.
It would be recalled that the 23-year-old had to make way for
Fenerbahce defender Joseph Yobo during the first half of the encounter
at Estadio Joaquim Americo Guimaraes on Monday evening.
Team medics have treated the injury conservatively by placing ice packs on the foot and that therapy has worked wonders.
''The update on my injury is that I am getting better now,'' Godfrey Oboabona said in a brief statement to SL10.ng.
Despite the good news from the ex-Sunshine Stars skipper did not
participate in full training with the rest of the squad on Thursday
evening.
Instead, the central defender underwent individual training as he
walked around the practice pitch of Federal University of Mato Grosso.
Nigeria manager Stephen Keshi has refused to rule out Godfrey Oboabona
from the showdown with Bosnia, and there's slight hope that the player
could train with the squad this evening when they have a feel of the
Arena Pantanal turf.
