Head coach of South Africa senior national side, Ephraim Shakes Mashaba says he is proud of the team's efforts despite failing to get a win against Nigeria.
The Super Eagles were forced to a 1-1 draw by Bafana Bafana at the Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.
Ahmed Musa thought he had handed the Super Eagles a victory, before Bongani Zungu salvaged a draw for Bafana Bafana.
"I'd like to say well done to our boys, they played very well, it's just unfortunate that we couldn't win the game," he says.
"We were supposed to have walked this game."
The former junior international coach also says he came with a suitable plan to counter Daniel Amokachi's suspected defensive tactics, but the finishing once again let them down.
"Our plan was to build up from the back, because somehow I expected them to come and play negatively.
"They were happy with the draw and you could see it by the way they played, they were happy to park at the back.
"When we took the game to them, just having that little bit of mobility in the open spaces, we came out strong; the only thing we still need to address is finishing," adds Mashaba.
