Shagari Turns Hero For Kwara United In Bauchi

Kwara United goalkeeper, Ismaila Shagari stole the show to force Wikki Tourists of Bauchi to a 1-1 on Saturday at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium.

The Ilorin based team came from a goal down to earn the 1-1draw.

The week three encounter of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), saw the hosts dominating much of the proceedings in the early part of the match.

Kwara United struggled so much to wrestle the midfield  away from the Abdul Maikaba side but the resilient Tourists boys held on well to keep the result at goalless in the first 45 minutes.

The Ilorin based side came out stronger in the second half as Ibrahim Babale and Segun Alebiosu switched positions to put pressure on the hosts' defence but the resilient Wikki Tourists defence held on well to curtail the Kwara United attackers threats.

The host later gained their confidence back and put pressure on their visitors defence which resulted in a penalty that was converted by Emenike Onuoha in the 71 minute.

Kwara United struggles continued but the Tunde Abdulrahman tutored side kept their heads high to earn a point in Bauchi.

Dare Ojo forced Wikki goalkeeper,Emeka Nwagbulu, to a nice save from a freekick in the second half but the resultant corner was poorly taken by the Harmony Boys as Kwara United is fondly called.

The introduction of Adeshina Gata for Ahmed Jimoh in the 62 minute piled pressure on the homers as they fought hard to equalise.

Ibrahim Babale was replaced by Ibrahim Abdullahi in the 77 minute to add to the pressure from the visitors.

Kwara United's resurgence in the game paid off in the 85 minute as Segun Alebiosu connected Evans Iyoro's cross to head home the equaliser.

Kwara United have garnered five points from three games, forcing Dolphins to a goalless draw in week one and beat El-Kanemi Warriors 2-1 in Ilorin in week two.
