NFF President Amaju Pinnick has, once
more, praised the continued support of the country’s leader, President
Goodluck Jonathan (GCFR) to the cause of the various National football
teams.
Speaking on
Wednesday, the NFF boss minced no words in dedicating the victory of the
Flying Eagles over Ghana’s Black Satellites in the first semi final of
the 19th African Youth Championship in Senegal to President Jonathan.
“As I said when the team won a place in
the semi finals and qualified for the FIFA U-20 World Cup, there is no
doubt that the great support and keen personal interest of President
Jonathan in the team has been working magic.
“He took special interest in that
squad since the team won a record fourth FIFA U-17 World Cup for
Nigeria in 2013, and has continued to monitor the team. The President
supports all the National Teams, but he certainly has very special
interest in the U-17 world champions, who have now become the U-20 and
will win the FIFA U-20 World Cup for him and the country in New Zealand
in June.”
The Flying Eagles on Wednesday
defeated Black Satellites of Ghana 2-0 to qualify for Sunday’s final,
and will play the winner of Thursday’s second semi final, involving
hosts Senegal and Mali.
