Flying Eagles of Nigeria will tackle Senegal in the final of the 2015 African Youth Championship on Sunday night in Dakar after the host nation beat Mali 2-1 in the second semifinal of the competition.
The Flying Eagles are appearing in the AYC final for the ninth time and will be aiming for their seventh title having lost two finals – 1-0 in 1999 to hosts Ghana and 1-0 to hosts Congo in 2007.
Mousa Kone scored a brace on Thursday to secure home team Senegal their first-ever berth in the AYC final at the expense of a very impressive Malian team.
On Wednesday, Nigeria defeated archrivals Ghana 2-0 in the first semifinal to set the stage for what is expected to be an epic final.
The final will be a rematch of the opening game of the competition which Nigeria won 3-1.
Sunday’s final at the 45,000-capacity Leopold Sedar Senghor Stadium will get underway by 7.30pm local time, which will be 8.30pm in Nigeria.
