The Nigeria Football Federation has moved to motivate the U-20
National Team, Flying Eagles, ahead of Sunday’s 19th African Youth
Championship final against hosts Senegal.
Thenff.com can confirm that NFF President Amaju Pinnick will fly into Dakar on Sunday with words of encouragement for the boys from the country’s leader, President Goodluck Jonathan (GCFR).
Also, the Federation has dispatched an official to Dakar with outstanding bonuses and daily allowances of the players and officials.
NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, said on Friday that the body is determined to lift the spirit of the players before the clash with the host nation.
“An official is on his way to Dakar with outstanding bonuses and allowances of the players and officials, and the NFF President will also be in Dakar on Sunday to pump up the team’s spirit.”
Nigeria aim for a seventh African title at junior level with players used to winning, right from the time they were in the U-17 category.
Sunday’s final will et underway by 8.30pm Nigeria time at the Stade Leopold Senghor.
Senegal shocked Mali 2-1 on Thursday to set up a final duel with the six-time champions, who ejected Ghana’s Black Satellites with a 2-0 spanking on Wednesday.
