Faltering Eagles To Board Chatered Flight To Nelspruit

After losing against the Cranes of Uganda last Wednesday in Uyo, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will depart the Uyo International Airport at about 11 am this morning for Nelspruit, South Africa, ahead of another friendly against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on March 29.

SportingLife gathered that the initial travel arrangement was for the Eagles to fly to Lagos and then connect a South Africa Airways flight to Johannesburg, South Africa.

With that arrangement, the Nigerian contingent would have needed to get another flight to Nelspruit on arrival at the Oliver Thambo International Airport in Johannesburg.

With the latest plans of travelling directly to Nelspruit, venue of Sunday’s match against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa, the Eagles will save enough time that would be put into training for the game.

“We will fly directly to Nelspruit, South Africa aboard an Arik Air flight at about 11 am on Friday,” Toyin Ibitoye, the media officer of the Super Eagles told SportingLife on phone from Uyo yesterday.

“After Wednesday’s loss against Uganda, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president had a chat with the players and after that, all the players have resolved to improve their performance against South Africa.

“The NFF has made things easier by making sure that the team travel to Nelspruit with less stress and I believe that the players too will do the country proud on Sunday,” Ibitoye said.
