The Super Eagles captain had a knock in Norwich City's 4-1 loss to Aston Villa on Sunday. And after the game a statement from an official of the club said the defender would not be fit to play at Atlanta Georgia Dome, although they hope to have him back for next Saturday's home clash against Stoke City.
“Yobo didn't join the squad here in Atlanta. I don't think he will be able to play for the match against Mexico. He is out of the game,” the Super Eagles spokesperson told a local radio station Brila FM on Tuesday.
Super Eagles manager Stephen Okechukwu Keshi has called up Fortuna Dusseldorf defender Leon Balogun as his replacement. Thursday’s friendly is expected to kick-off by 2am Nigeria Time.
The match is to be played at the Atlanta Georgia Dome with both countries parading their potential World Cup squads for the encounter.
