Super Eagles defender close to permanent deal

Middlesbrough are reportedly considering signing Nigerian international defender Kenneth Omeruo on a permanent deal from Chelsea.

The former Flying Eagles centre-back has impressed the top hierachy of the Riverside club, hence the need to secure his future away from Stamford Bridge.

Omeruo, sustained an injury while on international duty with the Super Eagles at the 2013 FIFA Confederation Cup in Brazil which denied him the chance to stake a claim for a jersey in the star-studded Chelsea team.

The player's representatives had approached officials of the Championship outfit to consider giving the versatile player a long-term deal in order to secure his playing future in England.

The player does not want to be a bench warmer in a big club, but prefers a modest side to showcase his talent. His representatives do not want to take chances hence the need to explore all available options.
