Nigerian Premier League Report: Dolphins 2-1 Sunshine Stars

Dolphins fought back to earn a 2-1 win over Sunshine Stars at the Sharks Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

As early as the 4th minute, former Enugu Rangers forward Oghogho Oduokpe curled in a free kick past Austin Brown, and the Akure Gunners were in front against a stunned Dolphins.

7 minutes later there was hope as Ifeanyi Egwim was brought down in the 18-yard area, but 30-year-old attacking midfielder Isiaka Olawale surprisingly failed to level from the penalty spot, as Ikechukwu Ezenwa guessed right to dive low to stop the Super Sand Eagles skipper's kick.

The rain at the match venue reduced the tempo, and this was what the home lads needed to fight back.

Dolphins' leveller came against the run of play on the stroke of 54 minutes. Oduokpe turned vallian as he scored in his own net.

Hope Fiberesima got a second caution, thus Dolphins were reduced to ten men. It was a silly foul he committed on Kingsley Eduwo. However, it was even in the 78th minutes with Mutiu Ogundinmu getting the marching orders for Sunshine.

Emem Eduok sealed the points for Stanley Eguma’s side as a huge deflection from his free kick beat Ezenwa with 11 minutes remaining and, on the balance of play, Dolphins deserved it.

Dolphins line up: Brown, Amaefule, Okolie, Fiberesima, Ezuruike, Joseph, Olawale, Egwim, Okwara (Atuloma 63'), Adamu, Eduok

Sunshine Stars line up: Ezenwa, Abe, Olulayo, Odunlami, Ogundimu, Onobi, Ojo, Adeniji (Mendrano 77'), Josiah (Olorundare 66'), Oduokpe, Eduwo
