Early season leaders,Akwa United surprised El-Kanemi by taking the lead
in the 9th minute through Akume who finished brilliantly much to the
surprise of the home fans at the Kano Pillars stadium in Kano,the
adopted home of El-Kanemi Warriors.
The half ended with Akwa United 1 nil up but they let their lead slip
in the 52nd minutes when Hassan Hissien pulled E-Kanemi Warriors level
with a smart finish after a nice build up and a through pass from
Ndubuisi Ekwruibe.
El-Kanemi warriors went in search of a second to kill the game off but
Akwa United proved why they are the league leaders as they defended
their lead and occasionally put the pressure on their host with some
counter attack moves.
El-Kanemi threw everything at Akwa United but the league leaders who
are one of the suprise team of the NPFL so far refused to cave in and
the game ended 1-1 with Akwa preserving their unbeaten start to the
season and further cemented their grip at the top of the table.
