Mba Sent Off As Bastia Are Relegated

Sunday Mba who has been the shining light for relegation battlers CA Bastia in the French Ligue 2 was yesterday shown a straight red card in CA Bastia's 1 nil loss away to Tours.

Mba who was the hero for CA Bastia scoring the winning goal in their 1-0 victory over Troyes last week was given his marching orders in the 34th minute of play for CA Bastia and Tours took the lead 7 minute later and hanged on to it until regulation time.

The loss has all but condemn Bastia to the 3rd tier of French football as they are stuck to the basement of the table on 17 points,15 points away from safety with a goal difference of -35.

Bastia have picked up just four wins all season long, winning once at home and three times away from home with eight of their games ending in a draw.

Mba 25, who scored the goal that clinched the Nations cup title for Nigeria in 2013 joined CA Bastia in the winter after a protracted battle of ownership between two local clubs Enugu Rangers and Warri Wolves over his ownership, he has scored 5 times in all competition in 12 appearances for CA Bastia this season.

The scramble for the former Nigeria Under-17 skipper is expected to begin in earnest because he has a clause in his contract that puts him up for sale if Bastia are relegated to the third tier.
