Stoke City goalie dreads forgotten Super Eagles forward

Asmir Begovic has hinted that no defence can take the threat of Super Eagles forward, Peter Odemwingie lightly.

In a chat with stoke sentinel; Begovic from Bosnia and Herzegovina, one of Nigeria's opponent at the World Cup in group F said if Peter is on the plane to Brazil this summer then his Stoke City teammate will definitely be a threat.

"There are a lot of great forwards in our group, and Peter’s going to be up there," Begovic told Stoke Sentinel

Odemwingie has a tough task to force a come back into the Super Eagles squad which the gaffer, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi has hinted it won't be an easy ride.

“Me (Begovic) and Peter have been teasing each other a little bit. He’s not quite sure if he’s going to be in the squad yet and we all have to keep working hard to make sure we get our places for Brazil. Once the squads gets finalized I’m sure the banter, the texts and the jokes will be flowing.” Begovic told Stoke Sentinel

Peter last played for Nigeria in 2012 against Rwanda but events out side of the pitch dampened his relationship with the technical crew after he took to Twitter where he vent his frustration about being subbed in the match against Rwanda. That move didn't help matters as it sparked a feud that has left him out of the squad till date.

Odemwingie has impressed since his arrival at the Britannia stadium from Cardiff City in January 2014. The former Bendel Insurance player has scored thrice in seven games for Stoke City.

“Normally it takes a while for new players to settle in, but Peter’s been flying. He’s given us a bit more pace and skill as well," said Begovic.
