Eagles forward escapes sledge hammer in Belgium

Super Eagles striker Imoh Ezekiel won't be penalised after he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season last weekend.

Imoh, a second half substitute, was cautioned by referee Luc Wouters in the 84th minute after he pulled off his shirt to celebrate his goal in the Jupiler League clash against Mechelen.

Before the encounter at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne, the one - cap Nigeria international was on four bookings and there are suggestions that he deliberately got himself yellow carded.

He would have been suspended for the final game of the regular season against Waasland-Beveren and enter the play-offs on a clean slate if the URBSFA had rubber-stamped the decision of the match official.

In waiving the automatic one match suspension, the Belgian Football Union said, "It is not compatible with federal regulations.  The federal prosecutor does not want to give a personal interpretation of the regulations and will refrain from any further comments on this issue."
