Stoke City gaffer Mark Hughes says it was well worth waiting for out-spoken forward Peter Odemwingie.
The Nigerian international has repaid Hughes' faith with four goals in three games.
The former Manchester City manager reckons his swap-shop deal with
Kenwyne Jones ranks right up there with his smartest pieces of transfer
deals.
Many considered the fiery Nigerian a risk after his infamous bid to
force a move away from West Bromwich Albion and the fact that he had
only been at Cardiff City for just six months.
Hughes, who tried to get his first time around, didn't need much
convincing that the fair-skinned striker could prove a bargain.
“I tried to get him in the summer and unfortunately he went to Cardiff.
But when you miss out on players you keep an eye on them and wonder if
something might come off in the future.
“I didn't anticipate the chance would come up so quick, but we got him and he's made an immediate impact."
