Nigeria defender Ayomide Anibaba says the west African side will be
ready for "war" when they face Spain at the World Cup in Liberia on
Friday.
Africa meets Europe, as Nigeria go head to head with Spain in Liberia.
The Nigerians have been hugely impressive, advancing from the group
phase with a 100 percent record and scoring seven goals and conceding
two in the process.
Meanwhile, Spain recovered from their opening-day defeat to Japan to
qualify in style, with a 7-1 defeat thrashing of Paraguay – their
biggest ever victory – and have high hopes of matching their performance
at Trinidad and Tobago 2010, where they finished third.
"Every country has their own style of play and the Spaniards are
physically and mentally strong," Anibaba told a reliable source. "It's going to be a
war, it's not going to be a football game. It's going to be really
tough, but we're ready -- it's no problem."
The FC Robo defender said Nigeria had benefited from the support of the
Costa Rican fans and said there was a feeling of joy and appreciation
from the Nigerians.
"We are all excited to be in North America to participate in this World
Cup and we all hope to have the support of the home fans on Friday,"
said Anibaa.
Despite winning all their Group D matches, Anibaba said the Nigerians would not be getting carried away.
"Let's enjoy this moment and we will see what happens in the future,"
she said. "We have proved to the world that we know how to play
football. So our aim is to qualify to the next stage at the expense of
Spain at the Estadio Edgardo Baltodano.
