An official from Kano Pillars has told a reliable medium that two top strikers of
the club, Kabiru Umar and Gambo Mohammed, will not be fit for Saturday's
Globacom Nigeria Premier League fierce clash with Enugu Rangers.
However, manager, Okey Emordi is hopeful attacking midfielder Rabiu Ali
will be fine for the game at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium, after he copped
a slight knock in Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Sunshine Stars in Kano.
Asked if the coaches were hopeful on the possibility of Umar and Gambo
being passed fit for the game with Enugu Rangers, the official replied:
“No. They are out for Saturday.”
“We are not really worried about both making Saturday or not. We are
more worried about having them being fully fit for the remainder of the
season, for the marathon round of matches of the campaign.
“Probably next weekend (the next home game) is a better option but
saying that, all the players want to be available for the derby so it
will be touch and go.
“But Abdullahi Shehu is ready (to play) and has shown that he is
adapting to anywhere in the team. When he came to the club he was more a
right back and now we are seeing him more as a defensive midfielder.
His performance against Sunshine Stars helped us."
