Gombe United added more woes to Heartland's early season poor form by
posting a 2-1 win at the Pantami Stadium on Friday afternoon in a
Globacom Nigeria Premier League week 4 match.
The first 45 minutes ended with Heartland holding on tenaciously to their slim advantage while the home team left the pitch with boos from the vociferous home crowd.
Former Sharks FC striker Bright Ejike opened the scoring for the visitors with a cracking 19th minute finish before Usman Suleiman equalized through a fabulous volley at the beginning of the second half.
The Desert Scorpions scored the match winner through Adamu Mohammed. He fired home late in the game to earn Gombe's first home win since the League commenced in February.
Heartland coach Kelechi Emeteole was left fuming as his boys lost concentration at the home stretch.
The result lifted Maurice Cooreman's Gombe to 4 points from 4 matches, while the future is bleak for Heartland, who have amassed just 2 points from 4 games.
