Chelsea set to table fresh bid for Rooney

Chelsea are ready to test Manchester United's resolve by returning with an improved offer for Wayne Rooney according to reports in England.

The Stamford Bridge side are understood to have made an official bid to United over the past few days.

It was claimed earlier that Chelsea offered 10 million pounds plus either David Luiz or Juan Mata, but that was subsequently denied by the Blues who claim they offered a straight cash deal of 20 million pounds.

Either way, the offer was turned down, leaving Chelsea to consider their options. Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is known to be a firm admirer of Rooney, and it appears he is ready to up the ante.

Reports are suggesting that Chelsea are ready to make a bid in the region of 30 million pounds which will severely test United's determination to keep a player who has made no secret of his desire to leave and could become a disruptive influence in the dressing room.
