Tottenham Hotspur striker Gareth Bale is only interested to join Real Madrid if he decides to leave White Hart Lane this summer. Bale will sit out the latest Tottenham pre-season match due to injury as he continues to be linked with Spanish giant Real Madrid.
According to Marca, Bale told Levy he wanted Spurs to negotiate a deal and said: "I'm not interested in Manchester United or any other team. I just want to play for Madrid." Reports in Spain earlier this week also suggested the player has already agreed terms on a six-year deal.
However, Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is confident he can keep Real Madrid and Manchester United's interest in his player Gareth Bale at bay by signing a new deal.
Villas-Boas has confirmed that a new contract is being mulled over in talks between the player and the club, but nothing is certain yet. "Talks are ongoing, but that doesn't mean there is an agreement. At the moment we are confident [Bale will re-sign].
The player is under contract, a good contract at Tottenham, which was done last year. It's something we are speaking about but we don't have any further developments," the Spurs boss said.
Bale was voted player of the year and the young player of the year by his fellow professionals in English football.
