Delta Queens Massacre Martins White Dove

Alice Ogebe grabbed a brace as Delta Queens completely destroyed Martins White Dove 6-0 in a Nigeria Women Premier League match played at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Delta Queens were seeking to snatch their first away point of the season whey they travelled to Benin City to face their neighbours.

The 2011/12 league champions took an early lead in the 8th minute of the game, when in-form Uju Okafor pounced on a free-kick floated by Joy Jegede to the Martins White box to net her 3rd goal of the season.

The away side doubled their lead in the 24th minute through forward Alice who benefitted from a pass by Uju, before hitting the back of the net.

Martins White were presented with an opportunity to pull one back from a free-kick in the 27th minute, but they failed to capitalise.

Delta Queens continued to dominated the game like a house on fire in search of the  third goal, and they got it in the 34 minute when enterprising Alice finished off a cross from Halimu Ayinde to make it 3-0.

Mariam Ezewagu increased Delta Queens' lead five minutes later after she converted a penalty kick.

Patience Okaeme made no mistake to make it 5-0 to the vistors in the 44th minute.

The first half ended 5-0 in favour of the Joy Jegede inspired Delta Queens.

From the resumption onwards, Martins White  managed to contain their Delta opponents, but the home side looked vulnerable each time they pushed forward.

Alice squandered an opportunity to to make it 6-0 in the 65 minute, when her effort from close range went inches wide of the target.

But there was still more goal in the match and it came from the magical boot of Super Falcons playmaker Ngozi Okobi in the 74th minute.

Both sides launched late attacks but they were unable to hit the back of the net.
