NPFL Week 19 Preview

Our league is fast becoming the best in Africa. The first round comes to a crescendo on Sunday. It is interesting to mention that there is a fierce battle at the top between the trio of Sunshine Stars, Enyimba and Wikki Tourist, all tied on 33 points, but Sunshine with a better goal difference.

Enyimba could go top if they win at Enugu against Rangers and Sunshine Stars fail to beat FC Taraba in Akure and Wikki do not record a victory.

Wikki face a tricky tie away at Heartland FC. Akwa United hope to stay above the relegation zone at least first half of the season, when they host Bayelsa United at the Nest of Champions on Sunday, 4pm.

Kwara United host FC Giwa in IIorin. Kwara recently sacked manager, Tunde Abdulraham following successive defeats at home to Enyimba and Sharks FC. But the team shocked Ifeanyi Uba FC on Wednesday, producing one of the away wins in Week 18.

At the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi, Lobi Stars play host to champions, Kano Pillars, while Nasarawa United host Dolphins at the same venue.

Gbenga Oguntobe will hope to continue his revival quest with Shooting Stars, when the Oluyole Warriors entertain El-Kanemi in Ibadan.

In Aba, it's another Oriental derby as Abia Warriors and Ifeanyi Uba FC clash. Warri Wolves will look forward to consolidate on their 2-1 win away at FC Taraba, when they welcome Sharks of Port- Harcourt.
