Kwara United have sunk further into the relegation quagmire after they were beaten 1-0 by fellow strugglers Sharks FC at the Kwara State Stadium in Ilorin on Sunday.
A stunning goal by Christian Pyagbara was enough to secure Sharks' first win in 14 matches.
The Nigerian international dribbled past three Kwara United defenders before firing past goalkeeper Suraj Ayeleso.
Victory was the Blue Angels' 2nd of the season and a morale booster for newly installed head coach Festus Allen, who returned to familiar terrain having managed ABS FC in the past.
Kwara United, meanwhile, still remained 17th, and have a match in hand.
Adeshina Gata's half volley missed target by whiskers as the homers pressed for the opener in front of their fans.
But the fearless visitors made the hosts pay for their earlier miss as Pyagbara scored the solitary goal of the game in the 24th minute.
Segun Alebiosu, Dare Ojo and Olufemi Oladapo went close for Kwara United.
As the game approached half-time, Kwara United were given the chance to level matters when Ofem Inah was adjudged to have handled the ball. But the nervous Ojo ballooned the spot kick into the sky.
The wasteful Kwara United attackers continued to waste easy chances as the first half ended 1-0 in favour of Sharks.
In a second half of few chances, Kwara United were once again the dominant force, but they lacked the cutting edge.
But at a stage, the reliable Ayeleso twice denied Sharks from scoring more.
Substitute Azeez Babalola saw his late goal disallowed by the match referee, but it mattered little as Sharks secured victory.
