Wikki Tourists held off a late charge from Elkanemi Warriors to move to 2nd spot in the Nigeria Professional Football League table.
The hosts won 2-1 win at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium on Sunday.
Wikki showed their intent from the start, with the hosts appealing for a penalty kick, a request that was ignored by the match referee.
Warriors goalkeeper Richard Ochaiyi proved his quality in goal and did well to repel the home team, but 20 minutes into the match he was left floundering as Wikki stole the lead.
Mubarak Umar made no mistake to put his team ahead as he was put through by Uche Martins.
Neither side had another shot on target until the 54th minute when Mubarak was hacked down in the box, but this time the referee didn't hesitate to point to the spot.
Samuel Chukwudi found the back of the net with a clinical finish and stretched the lead of the Bauchi-based outfit.
Warriors pushed forward and pulled one back in the 84th minute through Sunday Adetunji.
Wikki clung to the slim lead and her two points behind leaders Sunshine Stars, who won 2-0 at home to Bayelsa United.
