It was all joy for Giwa FC as they recorded a 2-1 win over Nasarawa United in the Nigeria Professional Football League week 18 fixture at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium on Wednesday.
The Jos Elephants who lost their last league game 3-0 to Shooting Stars at the Lekan Salami Stadium, were looking to use the Edubiase match to appease their teeming fans. And they showed determination to carry all three points at stake.
Giwa grabbed the first goal of the game through Ocheme Edoh in the 8th minute.
The Jos Elephants piled on more pressure on the visitors all in a bid to increase the advantage.
Their persistence paid off again in the 12th minute when Amos Gyang doubled the lead for them.
Ugochukwu Leonard showed predatory qualities to finish a team move as the first stanza ended 2-1 in favour of Giwa.
Back from recess, Nasarawa United coach Baba Ganaru made a couple of quick substitutions, perhaps to beef up the Solid Miners' attacking option, but all to no avail.
Giwa managed to hold on to the lead to record their win of the season.
The win pushed Giwa to the 4th on the ladder. Nasarawa United currently occupy the 12th position on the league table.
