Strugglers Bayelsa Play Out Draw At Home To Rangers

The game between Bayelsa United and Enugu Rangers ended in a bore draw with the Flying Antelopes perhaps the more likely to win but neither side really tested the opposition goalkeeper and neither deserved to win.

Bayelsa United enjoyed the game’s first chance after a slow start when a scrappily defended free-kick from deep resulted in a weak shot at goal.

Rangers then responded immediately and Godwin Aguda's volley across goal was comfortably saved by the goalkeeper.

The game settled into something of a rhythm with the away side dominating possession but failing to break down the hosts' defence who dealt with their attacks and looked to launch counterattacks but the visitors lacked the quality to punish the hosts.

Christian Madu did well to win a corner in the 28th minute which led to a series of set-piece chances with some intelligent play in the area.

The home team controlled the remainder of the first half but created little and were almost made to play in stoppage time by a neat Rangers counterattack but the visiting team lacked the cutting edge to score.

The second-half started with Rangers the more likely to make something happen but neither side created any chances of note.

Osas Okoro had a sight of goal in the 53rd minute after outmuscling his way to the box but he denied by a great save from goalkeeper Paul Godwin.

Aguda fired off a a shot from long-range in the 60th minute that bounced off the post with Godwin well beaten.

Samad Kadiri hit the target with a shot from a dangerous range in the 83rd minute but Rangers did well to keep a clean sheet and the remaining 5 minutes saw little else of note as the game finished goalless.
