Ndifreke Nets Double As Warriors Dumps Taraba

Relegation threatened FC Taraba failed to sparkle as they were defeated 3-1 by Abia Warriors in a Premier League week 17 encounter on Sunday.


The duo of Valentine Nwabili and brace hero Ndifreke Effiong were outstanding for the Ladan Boss managed side.

Warriors broke the deadlock in the 19th minute courtesy of a strike from Nwabili, who punished a wayward defending from the Pride of Taraba.

Chinedu Udeh had to be alert as he made a timely save at the near post to keep Joe Maamo at bay.

It was a big warning to Warriors, who couldn't deny Taraba from grabbing a well deserved leveller.

A superb pass from former Plateau United striker Chinedu Ohanachom was perfectly driven home by Ibrahim Sanusi.

The hosts managed to grab a second goal through Effiong just after the halftime break, which saw them take a 2-1 lead in the tie. The defender headed home a sweet cross from Bolaji Sakin.

Lucky Eremuya went close to pulling the equalising goal in the 54th minute but his free kick hit the upright.

The home side were not done there, as Ndifreke popped up in the 59th minute to add a third and a his brace from a free kick.

Taraba couldn't find a way back again are rock bottom of the table with 13 points from a possible 51, for Warriors their points haul increased to 26 points.
