Elkanemi Claim Late Draw

A late goal from Dauda Eboh denied Heartland maximum points as the Naze Millionaires were forced to a 1-1 draw by Elkanemi Warriors at the Karkanda Stadium on Wednesday.

John Ibe gave the Owerri-based side the lead eleven minutes to the end of the first half, but Eboh scored an injury time goal to rescue a point for Warriors.

Warriors got off to a lively start as they stuck with their swift-passing game.

Inside the opening 20 minutes, they had already seen three efforts palmed away by goalkeeper David Obiazo as Heartland struggled to contain their slick movement.

Heartland finally came to the party and saw their first real effort at goal turn out to be the opener.

Ibe connected well with a pass from Jimoh Oni to tuck home from close range.

Warriors were eventually awarded a penalty kick in the 41st minute but Obiazo produced a brilliant save from Sunday Adetunji's kick to keep the scoreline at 1-0.

The second half saw the Naze Millionaires trying to consolidate, but the hymn of the evening lingered on as they failed to turn possession into goals.

Oni should have doubled the lead for Heartland, while Collin Nwaneri also came close to scoring too.

The missed chances came back to haunt Heartland late in the game as Eboh managed to find the back of the net for Warriors.
