Capital City Dove Shares Spoils With Edo Queens

Edo Queens were forced to a 1-1 draw by Capital City Dove in their Nigeria Women Premier League match at the Area 3 Pitch on Sunday to keep their unbeaten record intact.


Debutants Capital City Dove were in search of their first victory season after they suffered three losses in a row.

Edo Queens started the game in a whirlwind style and besieged Capital City Dove's goal area with a sustained pressure. given hope that they were out for a win.

The home team Cheered on by their supporters, put the ball on the turf, with beautiful and accurate inter-positional passes.

It was Edo Queens who put off the bluff of the home side and went ahead with the first goal of the game from Lengi Jongu after 17 minutes.

Threatened with the incursion of Edo Queens, Capital City Dove took the challenge and almost levelled before the break.

Capital City Dove head coach Ngozi Ezeh was always seen having issues with the match officials, but in all fairness the officiating was superb.

With a 4th defeat starring at them, Capital City Dove piled up the pressure in the second half and were always attacking the Omodiagbe Amenze captained Edo Queens side.

Their reward finally came in the 76th when a 25-metre screamer from Chinyere Njoku found it way to the waiting net.

Edo Queens defended well to protect their unbeaten record and the match ended 1-1 in Abuja.
