In 2010, a former Lobi Stars defender, Peter Suswam was regarded as one of the most promising footballers plying his trade in the domestic championship.
And to add more substance to that statement, the right back was named
in Nigeria's provisional World Cup roster prior to the 2010 tournament
held in South Africa.
During his three - year stint in Portugal with Vitória Setúbal, the
Nigeria selectors did not make things easy for him, often calling him
for Under 20 and U23 international matches.
And this angered the higher ups at Vitória Setúbal , with the manager
throwing him out of the squad on his return from National Team
engagements.
You wouldn't say that he was in a jubilant mood after he moved to
Albanian Super League side Kukesi in the January transfer window as his
speech suggests otherwise.
'' I just came to Albania to play for five months and will walk away at
the end of the season. I will not listen to any offer to extend my
contract, it was not in my plans to stay here beyond June,'' stressed
Peter Suswam to a reliable source.
The 22 - year - old did not bite his tongue when quizzed on if moving
to Albania was a good starting point for a Nigerian professional
footballer.
''I can't really tell why many of us are moving here. As they say, the
league is developing. The wages are not special, just normal.
''To play in Albania you have to be mentally strong,'' adds the former Lobi Stars defender.
Peter Suswam has played 4 games in all competitions for Kukesi since making his debut against Bylis Ballsh on February 8.
