LMC rolls out plans for the league

Chairman of the League Management Company, Honourable Nduka Irabor has shed more light on the plans being put in place by the League governing body to sanitise local football in Nigeria in this chat with the crew of ''Naija Made'' on Thursday.

"Minimum value for Club Shirt sponsorship for Glo Premier League Clubs is N50m and Warri Wolves has shown it can be done. Before now, some Clubs sold their shirts branding for N12m. Kano Pillars are also attracting some decent fee."

"In the next licensing round, Clubs will be expected to provide Business Plans and we will also get to the point when we will insist on Clubs attracting a minimum number of fans to watch games, failing which the Club will not be registered."

The well versed football administrator also emphasised on the need for clubs to have a proper Youth Structure as seen in Europe.

"The Licensing Regulation designed by FIFA, adopted by CAF and NFF specifies that Clubs must have youth teams structured by age groups and not the situation where old men of over 27 years are presented as feeder teams. The proper Youth team will have kids under 18 and they will be paid as amateurs until they graduate to the senior team."

In reducing the rate of invasion and hooliganism in the league, the body has engaged the services more uniform men to mount the centres.

"We have engaged the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense to enhance security at match venues but hooliganism is not of endemic proportion in our games as may have been suggested by some persons," he continued.

''Clubs are to show written evidence of lease of stadium granting unfettered access to the facility. If we have this guarantee and a club fails to host a game because maybe, the Stadium owner, in most cases, the State Government, like a case where the Governor was hosting a novelty match, we will sanction the club appropriately," he concluded.
