Clubs on alert for the services of Mba

CA Bastia will pull off one of the greatest sporting feats if they survive the drop at the end of this season.

With 11 matches to go in France's second - tier, the Mediterranean outfit are bottom of the standings after garnering a paltry 14 points from 27 games.

In an unremarkable season, one of the success stories has been the form of Nigeria international Sunday Mba, a winter arrival from domestic club Warri Wolves.

The 2013 African Cup of Nations revelation has struck 4 goals in 11 matches both in the league and cup.

According to leaks by a reliable source, there is a clause in Sunday Mba's contract with CA Bastia stipulating that he could depart the team if they are relegated to the Championnat National after their final game on May 5 against Lens.

That agreement between club and player is subject to an interested suitor meeting the release clause of the attacking midfielder.

Sunday Mba's goals for CA Bastia came in matches against Angers, Niort and Istres.

He is expected to put himself in the shop window and earn a move to a bigger team if manager Stephen Keshi selects him for this summer's World Cup.

Only 16 months are remaining before the Super Eagle comes off contract with CA Bastia.
