Adegoke snatch victory for Bayelsa United in tough encounter

In-form Bayelsa United registered an important 1-0 win over Sharks Football Club today at the Sapele Township Stadium in Delta State to give their fans a big relief.

The sweet victory, courtesy Mutiu Adegoke’s 19th minute strike, propelled the Restoration Boys to the top six position, with first round of matches of the new Globacom Nigeria Premier League concluded.

The crucial away win - the second in four days - put broad smiles on the face of fans who had travelled all the way from Yenegoa to cheer the team to victory.

Adegoke, who was on the bench in the CAF Confederation Cup 2-0 win against Kondzo was set up after one of his runs from his defensive position led to the solitary goal.

It was a tough blow on Gbenga Ogunbote's Sharks, who paraded new signing Ibrahim Ajani and team captain Odinga Odinga in a tensed encounter that gave fans value for their money.

Bayelsa United finished 3rd in the previous season, while Warri Wolves placed 6th.
