Young Nigerian midfielder sustains injury in Greece

Olympiakos manager Michel is worried about the condition of Nigerian attacker Michael Olaitan.

The 21-year-old collapsed on the pitch after half an hour in the clash against bitter rivals Panathinaikos despite not making contact with an opponent or teammate.

Both Olympiakos and Panathinaikos medics had to give the Nigerian first aid before he was stretchered off straight to hospital.

“I am very shocked about Michael. It was something very unpleasant. It as a critical moment seeing him leaving with the stretcher.

“For a long time we had no news. He went to hospital and it seems that the situation has stabilized,'' says Michel in his post-match comments.

“But we have to conduct tests to find why he had fainted. We cannot compare such an incident with the actual game but both was a disastrous night for us.”

It appears that incident involving Michael Olaitan affected the concentration of the Greece champions.

Panathinaikos, featuring ex Flying Eagles skipper Abdul Ajagun, defeated Olympiakos 3 - 0 to end their 27- game unbeaten run.
