Nigeria Professional Football League - Team Of The Round 16

There were outstanding performers in the week 16 of the Nigeria Professional Football League and editor of Futball Galore, Ademetan Abayomi, puts them together as the “Team of the Week.”

Suraj Ayeleso - Kwara United

FC Taraba strikers should have had a hatful of goals and, if it were not for Suraj, they could have. His parrying and fearless grabbing of the ball was commendable. Ayeleso made several saves in both halves.

Ndifreke Effiong - Abia Warriors

The right-back could the best on the local scene if he continues to impress. For this lad to come into this match and making Enyimba defenders practically negligible in the Derby draw is a testimony to the player and his manager. His runs and abundance footwork were all that delighted fans in Aba and his goal was a delight.

Nnamso Edo - Akwa United

He kept his composure and discipline, and his team got the deserved points. He scored from the penalty spot and was solid rock throughout the game. Whipped in some decent crosses on some occasion when he attacked.

Abdulbasit Shittu - Nasarawa United

An outstanding performance by the defender for the Solid Miners. Making use of his physique, the agile defender made sure he kept the homers attackers well under check. The two blocks he produced were enough to make your eyes water.

Kabiru Ayinde - Kwara United

He defended so well throughout the 90 minutes against FC Taraba in Makurdi. He won almost all tackles he went in without committing a single foul. He looked like he’s been playing for Kwara United all his life. That was legendary. Excellent acquisition by the Harmony Warriors.

Azubuike Okechukwu - Bayelsa United

This talent is one the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League. First choice in the Dream Team VI squad. I think Zuby needs to be watched very well. The youngster mesmerized the away side with his dazzling runs and impressive skills. He didn't neglect his defensive duties too.

Rabiu Ali - Kano Pillars

When Rabiu is on form, he is a delight to watch. He was a menace all afternoon against Elkanemi Warriors, who failed to come to terms with the midfielder's infectious appetite for the game. If Pillars can defend their title for the 4th time, plenty will depend on him.

Tunde Adeniji - Sunshine Stars

When you have a player like Adeniji in your team, you need not talk too much. His goal was without doubt, the most exquisite of finishes. Adeniji could, in the near future, if not soon transform the Akure Gunners into league champions. A touch of class.

Ocheme Edoh - Giwa FC

Ocheme played with supreme authority. Combined so well with Ibrahim Shuaibu that not trying to sound disrespectful, the Heartland defenders looked inferior in the match against Giwa FC.

Mubarak Umar - Wikki Tourists

Not so exceptional, not so flamboyant and not one of the established premier league stars you know but this lad’s name will forever be on the lips of many. Apparently for the sheer brilliance of taking his first opportunity and scoring a wonderful goal against Dolphins.

Christian Obiozor - Enyimba FC

He is always the man for the big occassion and he showed it in the “Abia Derby”. The People's Elephants have made a good bargain. Obiozor's equalizer was a master class.
