Ahead of the 2014 Globacom sponsored African Women's Footballer of The
Year award ceremony, billed for Thursday 8th January, in Lagos, Nigeria,
Ismaila Mabo has opined that Nigeria's new kid on the block, Asisat
Oshoala looks best placed to pick the prize.
The former Super Falcons manager believes the Rivers Angels youngster stands a much better chance of winning the crown for the first time in her career.
“She's a new revelation and she has the energy and talent. If she goes on to win it's going to be a big plus to her and the country,” the most successful coach in the history of women's football in Africa said.
Goalkeeper Annette Ngo Ndom of Cameroon, Asisat Oshoala of Nigeria and Desire Oparanozie of Nigeria have been shortlisted for the Award.
The coach also noted that the three short listed candidates showed great stuff at the 9th African Women's Championship in Namibia, which he says adequately explains why they are currently the best rated players in African football.
The Glo-CAF Awards Gala nite will take place on Thursday 8th January 2015 in Lagos, Nigeria.
