President Cup: Alfasaria Force Emerge As Lagos Champions

Alfasaria Force FC has emerged champions of the maiden edition of the Nigerian National President's Cup, Lagos state chapter.
 
The compact Alfasaria side edged their opponent Goshen FC 1-0 in a competitive final game. First half ended goalless but the Lagos champions broke the deadlock in the early minutes of the second half and kept the lead to the final whistle of the game.

The President Cup Championship is organised by Youth Empowerment For Peace Foundation (YEP), a non-governmemtal foundation keen in developing the grassroot players and coaches, create jobs and develop sports infrastructure nation-wide.

The championship will be held across the 36 states from their local government, while finalist from each zones will represent at the National level of the tournament.

Both teams from Lagos will proceed to represent the state in the Zonal competitions stage for early next year (2015).

Director, Strategy and Branding of the grassroot competition, Edache Ochola was excited with Lagos for a perfect organisation.

"Lagos event as been successful and I am impressed with the level of the organisation. We can take many positive from the Lagos championship and hopefully other state will produce such great competition before the National finals," Ochola said.

The organiser have also revealed selected players and coaches from the championship will embark on a training tour in United Arab Emirate (UAE) and European tours.
