Sergio Aguero has been named Player of the Year at the 2014 Football Supporters’ Federation awards.
The Manchester City striker received the most votes at the supporters function to beat teammate Yaya Toure, Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling, Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin and Chelsea duo Eden Hazard and Branislav Ivanovic to the award.
Aguero, who has scored 16 Premier League goals during 2014, succeeds former Liverpool star Luis Suarez as winner of the player of the year prize.
Aguero said: "It's a really, really special award because it's from the fans. I'd like to thank the players and staff at the club.
"In the last three seasons we've never given up - it's my style and City's style, but we've got the squad to stay in the title race."
