Birkirkara recorded their 13th successive league win to restore their six-point lead at the top of the Premier League table after beating Tarxien Rainbows 3-1.

The reigning champions broke the deadlock on verge of half-time when Johnathan Benitez da Conceicao beat the Rainbows goalkeeper Nicholas George Vella. For the Brazilian striker it was his 14th league goal so far this season.

After the break on 71 minutes Pawlu Zammit's side doubled their advantage courtesy of Haruna Shola Shodiya.

On 88 minutes Tarxien pulled one back when Jorge Santos Silva beat the Stripes goalkeeper Justin Haber but a minute later Birkirkara restored their two-goal lead through substitute Daniel Zerafa.
