Warri Wolves defender expect Douala resistance

Warri Wolves central defender Ike Thankgod has tasked all players in the team to double their efforts so as to play quality football as well as improve the standard of play in the club's continental game against Union Douala of Cameroon.

The Seasiders were drawn in the first round of the 2014 CAF Confederation Cup against Union and while bookmakers believes it is a tricky draw, Ike wants to the team to qualify at the expense of the Cameroonians in grand style.

Speaking after training today, the dependable defender said that Warri Wolves are ready for the task that lies ahead.

“Our game is built on an all attack system, with a bit of hardwork and dedication victory is ours over the two legs in Warri and Douala respectively,” Ike said.

“I think in general we’ve done a good job in training. Now we want to play well and rely only on ourselves. We’ll go for them over the two legs and try to win. In football you never know what could happen to you but I hope the games will favour us.”

Ike added that Wolves expected a difficult opponent before the draw in Cairo.

“We knew it was going to be a complicated side. We are prepared to devour them and I'm ready at any moment to help the team,” Ike said.

“If the coaches deem me worthy to play a role, I will do my best. I have to carry on with my form, both for myself and for the team.”
