Young Giwa midfielder happy with his club's feat

Giwa FC midfielder Christian Madu has expressed delight at the club's participation in the Elite Division of Nigerian Football.

“I am so proud. I think we played well to qualify for the Premier League at the expense of some big guns like Plateau United, Niger Tornadoes and Mighty Jets

Madu was one of the key players of the Abdullahi Biffo managed team in the 2012/13 Nigeria National League season as the club emerged as overall champions of the division.

At one point the youngster was rumoured to be on the radar of Heartland and Lobi Stars. But he stayed at the club.

“We are carrying the hopes of Plateau State. The management is always supporting us, talking to us and giving us more confidence and you saw that with the way they rewarded us on February 16th in Jos.

“We are very happy to be in the Premier League and it makes us very proud. Everybody is happy, shouting and laughing.”

“It will be fantastic to play against Kano Pillars on 7th March. I think they will give us a lot of problems but we are training and ready to work.”

“It has been a dream that Giwa FC will participate in the 2013/14 season and long overdue,” Madu told sl10.ng

"We questioned ourselves after the disappointments of not qualifying in the 2011/12 campaign- how come we are so strong but when it matters we did not make it.

“It just goes to show that if we are committed, dedicated and organize ourselves well, Giwa FC can become a powerhouse of Nigerian football in the future.
