Sunshine Stars defender looks forward to better days

Sunshine Stars Football Club defender Ikenna Hilary says he is happy to play for the Akure Gunners in the 2013/2014 Globacom Nigeria Premier League due to kickoff on March 7th, 2014.

The Ondo outfit’s campaign starts with a fierce match against Enyimba International Football Club at the Akure Township Stadium.

On paper, Sunshine have the edge over their Eastern opponents, with a big crowd behind them. The 2012/13 match-up saw the Akure boys winning two-nil in front of their ever supportive fans.
Hilary, an international, however, is just focusing on his own role within the team.

“Obviously, I'm more used to playing with the team. I want to continue to show what I can do to the technical crew,” he said.

In January 2014, coach Stephen Keshi, invited him to be a part of the Nigeria national football team squad for the 2014 African Nations Championship. The strong defender helped the team to a third place finish after Nigeria beat Zimbabwe by a goal to nil.

“The year 2014 has brought goodluck to me. I hope to consolidate by doing well for Sunshine, get a national team recall and take my game abroad.
