Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has asked director of football Txiki Begiristain to go all out to sign Alvaro Negredo.
The Sevilla striker is the third player on the Chilean’s wish list for this summer, after the signing of winger Jesus Navas from Los Nervionenses and having lost out to
Real Madrid in his pursuit of Malaga midfielder Isco.
Pellegrini tried to sign Negredo 12 months ago when he was in charge at Malaga, only for the club’s owner Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani to withdraw his financial backing before a deal could be struck.
According to Marca, Sevilla President Jose Maria del Nido is understood to be keen on selling the player to City for around €25m since he is aware the Blues will pay cash up front, as happened with the Jesus Navas transfer.
The Premier League club have not yet made a concrete offer for the former Rayo Vallecano hitman, yet it is reported this will happen within a matter of days as recent negotiations between Atletico Madrid and Sevilla for Negredo appear to have come to a complete standstill.
