Malaga re-signs Santa Cruz

Malaga have confirmed that they have picked up striker Roque Santa Cruz on a three-year deal following his release from Manchester City.

The Paraguayan spent the final year of his contract at Eastlands on loan with the Anchovies, but this summer was linked with a move elsewhere, with talks reportedly held with Hamburg and Bologna.

However, it is Malaga who have picked up the 31-year-old, agreeing a three-year contract to re-sign the forward.

“I am very happy to be staying, very grateful to the club for the effort, because their situation is not easy and measures were necessary within the club,” commented Santa Cruz to reporters at his presentation today.

“Our role goes hand in hand. I have learned to really love this club and these fans, we have enjoyed some beautiful moments already.

“I stand by the club knowing that, regardless that the level of the project is different, there is an equally serious perspective and outlook for growth and improvement.

“And there is stability for my family, the kids can stay in the same school…we are very happy.”
